What it is Book Review:

What It Isdemonstrates a tried-and-true creative method that is playful, powerful and accessible to anyone with an inquisitive wish to write or remember. Bursting with full-colour drawings, comics and collages, autobiographical sections and gentle creative guidance, each page is an invigorating example of exactly what it is: 'The ordinary is extraordinary'. Lynda Barry explores the depths of the inner and outer realms of creation and imagination, where play can be serious, monsters have purpose and not knowing is an answer unto itself. How do objects summon memories? What do real images feel like? These types of questions permeate the pages ofWhat It Is, with words attracting pictures and conjuring places through a pen that first and foremost keeps on moving. Her insight and sincerity will tackle the most persistent of inhibitions, calling back every kid who quit drawing to feel alive again at the experiential level.

The World Is What It Is Book Review:

The first major biography of V.S. Naipaul, the controversial and enigmatic Nobel laureate: a stunning writer whose only stated ambition was greatness, in pursuit of which goal nothing else was sacred. Beginning in rich detail in Trinidad, where Naipaul was born into an Indian family, Patrick French skillfully examines Naipaul’s life within a displaced community and his fierce ambition at school. He describes how, on scholarship at Oxford, homesickness and depression struck with great force; the ways in which Naipaul’s first wife helped him to cope and their otherwise fraught marriage; and Naipaul’s struggles throughout subsequent uncertainties in England, including his twenty-five-year-long affair. Naipaul’s extraordinary gift—producing, uniquely, masterpieces of both fiction and nonfiction—is most of all born of a forceful, visionary impulse, whose roots French traces with a sympathetic brilliance and devastating insight. From the Trade Paperback edition.

Fletcherism, What It Is Book Review:

Horace Fletcher, an American health-food advocate of the Victorian era, earned the nickname ""The Great Masticator"" through his advocation that food needed to be chewed thirty-two times before being swallowed. At the age of 58, he conducted a series of strength and endurance experiments at the Yale Gymnasium versus college athletes which claimed that Fletcher could outperform these athletes. Fletcher also had a great interest in human excreta, believing that it evidenced one's true nutrition. He also advocated for a low-protein diet as a means of health and well-being. Through this 1913 volume Fletcher explains his theories of health and well-being and how, you too, can become a Fletcherite.

It Is What It Is Book Review:

Sometimes it’s the little things we overlook that keep us from experiencing God’s best. We all have a purpose and destiny in discovering our best selves. As we begin to seek the path for our lives, the lessons we learn from God’s Word are considered “stepping-stones.” They are not there to make us stumble, but to move us into the next level of our lives. It Is What It Isdiscusses the lessons author Debra A. Scales has learned through God’s Word, explaining what it really means to live according to the Word of God and why it is important to obey His Word. Each lesson of God’s Word moves us closer to our destiny and is valuable to our growth. As we grow in the Word of God, some lessons may be painful; we can think of these as “growing pains,” designed to bring out the best in us. Scales shares the lessons she has learned and the tests and trials she has endured without giving up. Each day brings new challenges and new opportunities to experience the glory of God’s Word. In It Is What It Is, author Debra A. Scales reveals the beauty of God’s world and the magnificence of His Word.

Time - What It Is - How It Works Book Review:

The mystery of time has baffled physicists for more than 100 years. Thousands of pages have been written on the subject and in each case the focus is on the clues, mysteries, puzzles and paradoxes and in the end … all unresolved. If you thought Einstein cracked the problem of time, think again. He barely opened the door. Brian Greene of string theory fame asked some of the worlds leading physicists “what is time?”. This is what they said: Janna Levin of Columbia University responded with “We'd like to corner time as a thing but it defies that by being momentary, by only having definitions that harken back to notions of time itself.” Alan Guth of MIT, one of the creators of “Inflationary Cosmology” said “Time... that's the $64,000 question to physics.” David Albert of Columbia University said “Time is the thing that everyone knows intimately until you ask them to tell you about it.” Max Tegmark of MIT admits that “There is basically no aspect of time that we fully understand.” In a brief 8 pages, this article makes the subject of objective physics (vs theoretical physics) available to any layman with a scientific curiosity. In the first 2 pages the reader will “get it” and with only a bit of determination will be able to follow along as we “do the math” and address the last hanging questions. In the end I think you'll agree that this opens the door to some very new physics and also that “Time, what it is and what it does is as obvious as the wheel.”

The Bible; It Is What It Is Book Review:

The Bible has outsold every other book that was ever written. This book is the filler for what little space that is available. Everyone should own, memorize and apply the contents because: 1. It is reader friendly; a special effort has been put into removing the suffering associated with forced obligatory reading. 2. WHAT IT IS is must reading for those searching for spiritual contact. It is the paradigm for methodology that is practical for those who prefer to do their own research and analysis that all are capable of... About my expertise: I spent years in the field of education. I read the Bible. I also spent many hours researching, reading others efforts, interpretations and speculation. If you did also without others con-trolling your exposure and interpretation, you can not be conned or frightened into zombotic behavior. Nor will you be controlled by those that ignore Bible text because it conflicts with a concocted word independent of the Biblical ingredients. I dont understand how anyone can be accused of attacking the Bible when the only attack is directly quoting the text. THE BIBLE IS WHAT IT IS. Is contorting the text the only acceptable method of examining it? Is it acceptable to manufacture conclusions then twist the text to support those conclusions? Im done and going to bed. I AM WHAT I AM.

American Socialism? It Is What It Is Book Review:

Ever wondered how we got where we are? How did the workplace change, why was it not noticed before? Should you have seen these changes before it all happened? The jobs went away, bonuses went up, there was more work do to, and yet the worker was appreciated less, not more. Legacy is gone. Loyalty to employees is gone. A fair days wage for a fair days pay has been replaced by the part time job. The rules all changed. The America we grew up with is not the America in which we find ourselves retiring into. Some will say it is Washington DC, some say in is big business, some say it was union demands, and yet like everything else in this high tech world it some and all of these and more. And so it begins... the Era where the Individual needs to take back control of their lives, their communities and their government.

It Is What It Is And It Aint What It Was Book Review:

I don't know why I've written this book, I don't even know if anyone will ever read past this blurb but what I do know is.... Tough times don't last, Tough people do! As a child you have delusions of grandeur that by the time you're 30 you'll be famous, have a huge house and possibly even servants....Yeah right...More likely a 9-5 job, boyfriend and grossly, hair in places that really isn't necessary! At 28 my life wasn't what I'd imagined and was about to get a whole lot further from that childhood fantasy.... I'm not gonna give too much away, just simply say that I write about my experiences...Please don't buy this thinking it's a Bridget Jones blockbuster, more like the Lambrini drinking, day time TV watching version...where cheating arseholes are seen for what they really are, grannies are people to beware of and revenge is the only drug you will ever need. So for those of you struggling with a break up, feeling like your life is just stuck in a rut or dwelling on the past......Read on and move forward....I hope I can make you realise... A clock doesn't go backwards so why should you!
