Wisdom as It Relates to the Holy Quran Book Review:

The main purpose of this book is to serve as a source of spiritual information, enlightenment, wisdom, and guidance to those believing Muslims, as well as non-Muslims, to come to terms in reaffirming the fact that there is a creator (God). It is he who is responsible for the creation of the heavens, the earth, mankind, the angels, jinns, and all what is known and unknown in this universe. His creations include both the hidden and the unseen world of which very little is known to man. This is due to the fact that all sources of knowledge, power, and wisdom belongs to Allah. And he giveth or withdraweth any of these gifts to whom he wills.

Translating Wisdom Book Review:

During the height of Muslim power in Mughal South Asia, Hindu and Muslim scholars worked collaboratively to translate a large body of Hindu Sanskrit texts into the Persian language. Translating Wisdom reconstructs the intellectual processes and exchanges that underlay these translations. Using as a case study the 1597 Persian rendition of the Yoga-Vasistha—an influential Sanskrit philosophical tale whose popularity stretched across the subcontinent—Shankar Nair illustrates how these early modern Muslim and Hindu scholars drew upon their respective religious, philosophical, and literary traditions to forge a common vocabulary through which to understand one another. These scholars thus achieved, Nair argues, a nuanced cultural exchange and interreligious and cross-philosophical dialogue significant not only to South Asia’s past but also its present.

The Oxford Handbook of Wisdom and the Bible Book Review:

This collection of leading scholars presents reflections on both wisdom as a general concept throughout history and cultures, as well as the contested nature of the category of Wisdom Literature. The first half of the collection explores wisdom more generally with essays on its relationship to skill, epistemology, virtue, theology, and order. Wisdom is examined in a number of different contexts, such as historically in the Hebrew Bible and its related cultures, in Egypt and Mesopotamia, as well as in Patristic and Rabbinic interpretation. Additionally, wisdom is examined in its continuing relevance in Islamic, Jewish, and Christian thought, as well as from feminist, environmental, and other contextual perspectives. The second half of the volume considers "Wisdom Literature" as a category. Scholars address its relation to the Solomonic Collection, its social setting, literary genres, chronological development, and theology. Wisdom Literature's relation to other biblical literature (law, history, prophecy, apocalyptic, and the broad question of "Wisdom influence") is then discussed before separate chapters on the texts commonly associated with the category. Contributors take a variety of approaches to the current debates surrounding the viability and value of Wisdom Literature as a category and its proper relationship to the concept of wisdom in the Hebrew Bible. Though the organization of the volume highlights the independence of wisdom as concept from "Wisdom Literature" as a category, seeking to counter the lack of attention given to this question in the traditional approach, the inclusion of both topics together in the same volume reflects their continued interconnection. As such, this handbook both represents the current state of Wisdom scholarship and sets the stage for future developments.

Lost Wisdom Book Review:

In the essays collected here, Abbas Milani uses an impressive array of cross-disciplinary Western and Iranian theories and texts to investigate the crucial question of modernity in Iran today. He offers a wealth of new insights into the thousand-year-old conflict in Iran between the search for modernity and the forces of religious obscurantism. The essays trace the roots of Shiite Islamic fundamentalism and offer illuminating accounts of the work of Iranian intellectuals -- both men and women -- and their artistic movements as they struggle to find a new path toward a genuine modernity in Iran that is congruent with Iran's rich cultural heritage. This book challenges the hitherto accepted theory that modernity and its related concepts of democracy and freedom are Western in essence. It also demonstrates that Iran and the West have more that brings them together than separates them in their search for such modern ideals as rationalism, the rule of law, and democracy.

Sevenfold Wisdom Book Review:

[#] This book is an in-depth exposition on how captivating language from Holy Quran secretly conceal a very complex numerical pattern. Some of these pattern coincidently represent many previously unknown as well as fascinating scientific information. While casual reading might uncover several of these patterns, an algorithmic approach result in a completely surprising perspective.[#] This new landscape of reasoning refer to the thematic and conceptual interconnection of individual Quranic words. Despite its ancient origin, this newly emerging landscape suggest that there is something very sophisticated yet still plainly hidden beyond our ordinary reading of the Quran. This concealed dimension of Quran seems to uncover an advanced informational 'guide' concerning our planet as well as the larger cosmological neighborhood.[#] Besides warning against suffering of natural forces and many typical human misbehavior, one of these fascinating information is the scientific history of Earth. From geomagnetic field, evolution, to accurate highlight of paleo-botanical event, knowledge unearthed in this book is guaranteed to open your personal floodgate of questions. More than tickling curiosity about means and methods of the prophetic revelation, the book will certainly changes how you feel when looking up to the sky, day and night.[#] Book chapters officialy focus only on 321 verse consisting 5783 unique words. But the consistency and systematic pattern of seven (7) connecting each of all these words is astonishing. It's safe to assume that any computational linguistic technology today would still be very far behind the mysterious matrix of words discovered from Quran. Readers are also welcomed and encouraged to replicate types of procedure given inside this book with different set of verse to personally experience the same surprise.

Introduction to Sufism Book Review:

From Rumi's whirling dervishes in Turkey over 700 years ago, to circles of silent mystics in the West today, this book reveals the history and practices of Sufism, the ancient but still active system of Islamic mysticism which has long been the spiritual current in Islam that counterbalances fundamentalism. Eric Geoffroy is an authority on Sufism, and he shows us this increasingly popular contemplative dimension of Islam, which is little understood in the West.
