Sweet Success Book Review:

Fans of Terry Border and Drew Daywalt will devour this punny and clay-ful picture book from the husband-and-wife duo behind the “Cuddles and Rage” webcomic. Nothing makes Scoops happier than starting a sweet new project. She just isn’t the best at completing them. So when she realizes that the Cherry twins’ surprise birthday bash is today and that she never finished making their special present, she waffles about whether to go. Scoops quickly throws something together and heads to the party—only to find that her gift doesn’t quite measure up. Will Scoops play it cool and figure something out . . . or will she have a complete meltdown?

Sweet Success Book Review:

You can read this book or read the thirty-four books that I have listed in the bibliography section in this book. When I started job hunting, I couldn’t find a book that would teach me step by step everything that I needed to know: how to get and keep a job while I build a successful business on the side and prepare for a smooth transition into my business. This book still does not exist today; so I have decided to use what I have learned and practice, and write a book that would impact the lives of other people who will encounter the same difficulties that I have encountered many years ago. The best part about this book is that you can read a chapter and apply what you have learned in thirty minutes. I have also added a bonus chapter for you, “Doing Business Overseas.” I am proud to have developed and used those strategies and techniques in this book to get employment in several industries, start and grow my company, mentor new business owners, and restructure my clients’ companies. The information in the “Hiring Employee” and “Leadership” chapters has helped many applicants obtain their first jobs, get new jobs, and get promotions. A chapter in this book will help job applicants over age fifty get back into the workplace. Chapters and practical cases in this book will show you step by step how to manage your finances; start or buy a business; buy a franchise; obtain financing; price, market, and sell products; do business overseas; apply technology; outsmart competitors; and operate a profitable business in any economy. Plantations of Antigua the Sweet Success of Sugar Volume 2 Book Review:

Sugar. It sits there, dormant, nestled in a small bowl or serving-size packet, waiting to be spooned into a cup of coffee or tea, spread across some cereal, or dropped into a recipe for cake, pie, or other scrumptious treat in the making. It is so readily available, so easy to use, and so irresistibly tasty. But few people stop to realize the enormous economic, social, political, even military upheaval this simple-looking, widely popular food enhancer has caused in many parts of the world. In the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, even into the nineteenth century and early decades of the twentieth, sugar cane was a preeminent crop upon which economies succeeded or failed, societies grew, and money flowed like . . . well, sugar! A region particularly impacted by sugar was the volcanic islands of the Caribbean—virgin soil enriched by crushed coral and limestone and blessed by unlimited sunshine. The result was soil so rich for planting that the necklace of island colonies and small nation-states became a massive source of the world’s supply of sugar. Antigua’s 108 square miles, an island of undulating hills and indented coastline, fell into this category.

Sour Grapes and Sweet Success Book Review:

This book is about Don Cherry and Sam Pollock. It is very different from the usual hockey book because it reveals much that has hitherto not been revealed, all supported by facts, data and charts. It is uncharted territory for hockey fans. These are two prominent hockey people who are poles apart. At one end of the spectrum is Cherry. It has been written about him that "he is an exhibitionist who has a highly exaggerated opinion of his own importance and of his abilities." It is further written that "we live in a world that turns vulgarity into celebrity." These are perfect appraisals of Don Cherry. This book unearths the real Mr. Cherry who lurks beneath the fabricated puppet that appears weekly on Coach's Corner. We show, with proof, that he could not play, that he could not coach and above all, that he wasn't a brawler. We indicate that brawlers have penalty minutes to show for their work; he had virtually none. We also show that he failed to measure up in other ways as well. Chiarelli is among that very large group of Canadians who find Cherry intolerable. At the other end of the spectrum is the late Sam Pollock, the fabled General Manager of the Montreal Canadiens, who was a genius at his job and was deserving of far more credit than he was given. This book shows how the rest of the NHL snoozed while he was harvesting all the world-class French Canadian hockey players from Quebec, and winning fifteen Stanley Cups with them. This book shows those details and discusses, in depth, his relationship with Scotty Bowman.
