God is waiting for each of us to return home! In fact, God is already out in the world searching and inviting each person to take the journey back to God's house. Relational Discipleship: Moving Back Home with God approaches discipleship from a fresh perspective and intentionally draws on biblical principles and examples of discipleship. In this approach, the metaphor of a house is used to describe our journey back to God. Hospitality plays a key factor in how discipleship, from this perspective, warmly calls each person forward in each step. Other modes of discipleship are solely focused on transformation of the disciple. Here, in this model, the transformation of the discipler must occur first. Then, the discipler can be a warm host helping other travelers on the path to God's house. Join in the journey today and see how Relational Discipleship offers the call to move back home with God.

This book is written for single Christian women and those who are single again and desiring a meaningful relationship and waiting for a life partner. This book introduces meanings that participants assert about their relationship experiences through a research study, which is relevant for readers to identify key attributes and ‘wisdom keys’ principles that should be considered while waiting for a potential life partner. Both women and men can benefit from the insights from this book, as it is a strategic wisdom tool for males and females whose aspiration is for one of God’s daughters or sons as a life partner. Readers will be enlightened to the uniqueness of the journey and the complexity of the process involved in waiting for and choosing a life partner. This book provides an alternative conceptualization to waiting and is geared to stimulate readers to explore the purpose of waiting, the attitudinal approach to waiting, and the next dimension of the journey from friendship to life partnership.

More than two decades ago, John Galliano and Alexander McQueen arrived on the fashions scene when the business was in an artistic and economic rut. Both wanted to revolutionize fashion in a way no one had in decades. They shook the establishment out of its bourgeois, minimalist stupor with daring, sexy designs. They turned out landmark collections in mesmerizing, theatrical shows that retailers and critics still gush about and designers continue to reference. Their approach to fashion was wildly different—Galliano began as an illustrator, McQueen as a Savile Row tailor. Galliano led the way with his sensual bias-cut gowns and his voluptuous hourglass tailoring, which he presented in romantic storybook-like settings. McQueen, though nearly ten years younger than Galliano, was a brilliant technician and a visionary artist who brought a new reality to fashion, as well as an otherworldly beauty. For his first official collection at the tender age of twenty-three, McQueen did what few in fashion ever achieve: he invented a new silhouette, the Bumster. They had similar backgrounds: sensitive, shy gay men raised in tough London neighborhoods, their love of fashion nurtured by their doting mothers. Both struggled to get their businesses off the ground, despite early critical success. But by 1997, each had landed a job as creative director for couture houses owned by French tycoon Bernard Arnault, chairman of LVMH. Galliano’s and McQueen’s work for Dior and Givenchy and beyond not only influenced fashion; their distinct styles were also reflected across the media landscape. With their help, luxury fashion evolved from a clutch of small, family-owned businesses into a $280 billion-a-year global corporate industry. Executives pushed the designers to meet increasingly rapid deadlines. For both Galliano and McQueen, the pace was unsustainable. In 2010, McQueen took his own life three weeks before his womens' wear show. The same week that Galliano was fired, Forbes named Arnault the fourth richest man in the world. Two months later, Kate Middleton wore a McQueen wedding gown, instantly making the house the world’s most famous fashion brand, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art opened a wildly successful McQueen retrospective, cosponsored by the corporate owners of the McQueen brand. The corporations had won and the artists had lost. In her groundbreaking work Gods and Kings, acclaimed journalist Dana Thomas tells the true story of McQueen and Galliano. In so doing, she reveals the revolution in high fashion in the last two decades—and the price it demanded of the very ones who saved it.
Often this world seems like a nightmare. Human trafficking, young girls trapped in brothels, child soldiers forced to become killers, unchecked plagues and diseases, economic injustice and the oppression of the poor. Millions around the world are trapped in this nightmare, and we may feel helpless to do anything about it. But God has a dream. York Moore paints a vivid picture of how the dream of God is breaking into history to make all things new. Through the death and resurrection of Jesus, God is bringing an end to the world's nightmare of sin and death. Scripture's vision of Jesus' end-time work shows how the wrongs will be made right, and God's just judgment is good news for the world. Unpacking how the Bible describes the last things, Moore shows how we can partner with God as he brings his dream to reality. Every time a well is dug for a community, food is provided for the hungry or sex traffickers are brought to justice, the dream begins to take hold. This is no mere wishful thinking. The dream of God is more real than your dreams could ever imagine. It is what we were created for. So wake up from the nightmare and join in what God is doing in the world. And flourish as your own dreams are transformed by God's dream for all creation.
We were created to care for each other. Some such as social workers, counselors, pastors, chaplains, seminarians, doctors, nurses, teachers, missionaries, and many others have experienced a calling and have pursued education and training that equipped them to be professional helpers. Others have sensed a calling, and out of love, passion, and compassion help and care for others. Still others just help because we are called to bear one another's burdens and to lend a helping hand along life's journey. And others took on the task of being a caregiver because that was the thing to do. This book is written for helpers and caregivers-thus everyone. Sometimes helpers become burdened with the load of caring; sometimes they need something to lift their spirits; sometimes they need a source of new insights and new ideas. Yet, sometimes, they need the comfort that comes from spending time in God's Word, meditating on God's promises, and seeing how biblical characters found help from God. I hope this book will be one that you turn to time and again; one that you will share with others. As you go along each day, use the book as a source for daily meditation, reflection, and inspiration. Or, take a break; turn to a page; or let the book fall open to a page; and anticipate how God will send the right message and encouragement that you need for a moment of disappointment, discouragement, or when you need a word of discernment. Better yet, find a happy story to make you laugh, reminisce, and celebrate. Be blessed as you help and care for others as well as yourselves. A central figure in both classical and ancient near Eastern fields, Trevor Bryce presents the first publication to focus on Troy’s neighbours and contemporaries as much as Troy itself. With the help of maps, charts and photographs, he unearths the secrets of this iconic ancient city. Beginning with an account of Troy’s involvement in The Iliad and the question of the historicity of the Trojan War, Trevor Bryce reveals how the recently discovered Hittite texts illuminate this question which has fascinated scholars and travellers since the Renaissance. Encompassing the very latest research, the city and its inhabitants are placed in historical context - and with its neighbours and contemporaries – to form a complete and vivid view of life within the Trojan walls and beyond from its beginning in c.3000 BC to its decline and obscurity in the Byzantine period. Documented here are the archaeological watershed discoveries from the Victorian era to the present that reveal, through Troy’s nine levels, the story of a metropolis punctuated by signs of economic prosperity, natural disaster, public revolt and war.
