The Chava Diamond Chronicles Book Review:

In this third sequel of The Chava Diamond Chronicles: A Song to Remember, Chava receives an invitation from her niece who resides in Mexico, for Juliet’s fifteenth birthday party, her quinceañera. After Chava’s best friend and literary agent, Angela, agrees to join her, she accepts the invitation. Once they arrive, surprises are waiting not only at her ex-in-laws’ home but also at a local establishment where Chava develops strong feelings for a mariachi singer while he sang “Malaguena Salerosa.” Juliet’s father, Arturo, who is in charge of the Federales investigating a drug cartel that moved into the area, warns Chava to be careful. At her party, Juliet meets a boy named Romero and she falls in love with the boy from the other side of the tracks. Chava and Arturo fear that another Shakespearean tragedy is in the making, like Romeo and Juliet, and they do everything to prevent that from happening. While Arturo’s compound is under attack by the cartel, it is up to Chava to come up with an idea to get the young lovers to safety without causing any harm to them. Chava learns that not everything is as it may seem. A lesson that questions her own humanity and trust in another man that she thought she was in love with, as he was most certainly not someone that he appeared to be. Chava and Angela prayed very hard that the lesson they learned would last for a lifetime, a lot longer than they were facing in the hands of strangers.

Righting Wrongs in Writing Songs Book Review:

This book gives both aspiring and seasoned songwriters a powerful new approach to writing songs, focusing on common obstacles in the songwriting process and techniques to help songwriters overcome them. Each chapter goes to the root of a specific songwriting problem and provides exercises to help readers over the hurdles and put their new skills to work. Topics include writing approach, purpose, structure, melodic significance and construction, basic music theory, word meaning, word design and arrangement, chords, and how they are all pieced together. Along the way, a song is created to act as a case study and a demonstration of what each exercise can result in. The lessons are fun, informal, and include fresh suggestions and exercises born out of the author's experience in teaching songwriting at the college level. The book's companion website provides audio clips to accompany the relevant exercises and examples presented in the book.

Your Own Song to Sing (Volume 2) Book Review:

Writing has taken over my life.. in a good way. My thoughts continually are geared towards my next song. Sometimes I get a few lines in my head when I am driving and I have to pull over the car and write them down! No matter where I am, I get the urge to write. I could be talking to a neighbor, or be in the middle of mass at church and a word or phrase will pop into my head and whoa! -a new song is born! More than anything I love, love, love, the peace of mind songwriting allows me to have. Most of my lyrics take me 15 to 30 minutes to write. There was a time when I was writing 6-8 lyrics in a day. Sometimes I would sit there and stare at my pencil asking why did you stop? I swear at times the pencil kept moving like I wasnt even thinking of what to write. This is my first edition. I hope to continue with future editions as I am still writing new songs everyday. Someday I hope to put my lyrics to my own music and I recently started taking piano lessons. Hey, we all know life is a learning process; a learning curve, we need to experience the turns with the ride! I wish you all success with this book and look forward to seeing some of you with me when it comes to award times!

Life of Chopin Book Review:

Frederic Chopin, a Polish virtuoso pianist and piano composer of the Romantic period, is widely regarded as the greatest Polish composer, and one of the most influential composers for piano in the 19th century. Franz Liszt was a Hungarian composer and virtuoso pianist of the 19th century. This book is not so much a biography of Chopin as it is a way of better understanding Liszt and the circumstances of his time. Though critics of Liszt's book have assailed it for various literary infractions, it is not without merit. There is much to be learned within its pages about both Chopin and Liszt.

A Song to Die For Book Review:

A Song to Die For -- a rousing tale mixing love, music, and mystery from Spur Award–winning author Mike Blakely. It's 1975 and guitarist and singer/songwriter Creed Mason hopes to ride the new wave of Texas-style, Austin-based country music all the way back to the big time. A one-hit wonder whose Nashville career was cut short by a trip to Vietnam, Creed is desperate to get back into the business. His break arrives when a country legend, Luster Burnett, comes out of a fifteen-year retirement for one last album and tour in order to pay off a huge debt to the I.R.S. As Luster's new guitarist and band manager, Creed jumps at the chance of a lifetime. Rosa Martini, a beautiful young mob princess from Las Vegas, is found dead just outside of Austin. Texas Ranger Captain Hooley Johnson looks into the case, only to find a second young woman murdered—a friend of Rosa's. To complicate things, Rosa's adoptive brother, mob hit man Franco Martini, is spotted nosing around Austin in the wake of the murders. Soon it appears to Johnson, and to Creed, that the mob-related murders and the band are somehow connected. When the band wins an unexpected booking at the biggest casino in Vegas, Creed begins to wonder what kind of contract his band is being set up for—a major-label recording deal, or a mob hit? At the Publisher's request, this title is being sold without Digital Rights Management Software (DRM) applied.

Just Remember This Book Review:

I have completed this manuscript Just Remember This, or as American Pop Singers 1900-1950+, about music before the 1950s in America. It perhaps offers knowledge and insights not previously found in other musical reference books. I have moreover been working on this book very meticulously over the past twelve-plus years. It started as a bit of fun and gradually became serious as I began to listen along with the vocalists of popular music, of the era before 1950, essentially just before the dawn of rock and roll. If you can call it that! Indeed genre and labeling of American music started here, and then from everywhere. While the old adage of always starting from somewhere could be noted in every century, the 1900s had produced the technology. Understanding the necessity, more so, finds a curiosity on the part of a general public hungry for entertainment, despite 6 day work weeks, World War I, the Great Depression, and World War II.
