The International Security Programs Benchmark Report presents and analyzes the findings of a broad survey conducted by the Security Executive Council of corporate international security programs. The report identifies the types of international security baseline programs in place for a range of company sizes, and describes the organizational perception of security’s role and capability. The data suggest that international security programs are greatly affected by the company size and the location of the security department within the organization, whether as part of the executive, legal, or human resources function. Security leaders can gain valuable insights from this report regarding the scope of international security programs at key corporations with contextualized comparison points for evaluating their own programs. The International Security Programs Benchmark Report is a part of Elsevier’s Security Executive Council Risk Management Portfolio, a collection of real world solutions and "how-to" guidelines that equip executives, practitioners, and educators with proven information for successful security and risk management programs. Summarizes the key points of a broad survey on international security programs conducted by the Security Executive Council Breaks down survey responses by company size and functional location of security within the organization Provides insight into other organizations’ existing international security programs and services

In corporate security today, while the topic of information technology (IT) security metrics has been extensively covered, there are too few knowledgeable contributions to the significantly larger field of global enterprise protection. Measuring and Communicating Security’s Value addresses this dearth of information by offering a collection of lessons learned and proven approaches to enterprise security management. Authored by George Campbell, emeritus faculty of the Security Executive Council and former chief security officer of Fidelity Investments, this book can be used in conjunction with Measures and Metrics in Corporate Security, the foundational text for security metrics. This book builds on that foundation and covers the why, what, and how of a security metrics program, risk reporting, insider risk, building influence, business alignment, and much more. Emphasizes the importance of measuring and delivering actionable results Includes real world, practical examples that may be considered, applied, and tested across the full scope of the enterprise security mission Organized to build on a principal theme of having metrics that demonstrate the security department’s value to the corporation

This research report presents the findings of a broad survey of corporate security programs conducted by the Security Executive Council’s Security Leadership Research Institute (SLRI). The researchers' objective was to benchmark the state of the security industry in terms of organizational structure, budget, staff resources, board-level risk concerns, program drivers, and services provided. The level of responsibility each respondent reported for a list of 30 security programs or services is also compared across several organizational categories. This report can be used by security professionals for introspective analysis of the security team within their organizations, external review of the ways in which other organizations approach risk management, internal justification of security budgets and initiatives, and for performance metrics. Corporate Security Organizational Structure, Cost of Services and Staffing Benchmark is a part of Elsevier’s Security Executive Council Risk Management Portfolio, a collection of real world solutions and "how-to" guidelines that equip executives, practitioners, and educators with proven information for successful security and risk management programs. Summarizes the key findings of a large survey on security programs conducted by the Security Executive Council’s Security Leadership Research Institute (SLRI) Breaks down survey responses by organization size, scope of responsibility, industry, and more in easy-to-read charts and tables Provides invaluable insight into other organizations’ existing security programs and services

This book examines actors, tools, and issues associated with the changing nature of the environment in which the United Nations operates; the ways in which it has responded and might respond to technological and political problems; and the questions and difficulties that arise for the world organization. Issues covered in the book include doctrinal questions on the use of force, the regional dynamics of nuclear proliferation, and the growing concern that nuclear order established by the NPT may collapse or simply be overtaken by events.--Publisher's description.

The report, based on research carried out by RAND Europe and commissioned by the National Audit Office, presents the results of a benchmarking exercise investigating the issue of fraud and error in the social security systems of eight European and non-European countries (covering Australia, Canada, France, Ireland, Netherlands, New Zealand, Sweden and the United States). The study describes the different systems studied, assesses the scale and prominence of the problem in a national context, outlines approaches taken to measure and to reduce fraud and error, and draws out the principal themes emerging from the comparisons of relevance for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). Findings include that the availability of data and methodologies for measuring fraud and error at national level vary considerably, but the DWP is at the forefront in developing estimates of losses arising from fraud and error in social security expenditure. The high levels of estimated fraud and error in expenditure on benefits, £2.6 billion in 2004-05, have led to the NAO qualifying the DWP's accounts and those of the former Department of Social Security for 16 years in a row. The rates of fraud at the DWP appear comparable to those of other countries, such as USA, Ireland, Canada and New Zealand, and it compares favourably in terms of awareness of the problem and activities to combat the problem.
